Our History

The East Providence Lions Club was chartered in 1961 as part of Lions Clubs International, the world's largest service club organization with almost 1.5 million members in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Lions Clubs International was founded in 1917 as the direct result of a challenge issued by Helen Keller to community members encouraging them to provide assistance for visually impaired people of all ages. Since that time, Lions Clubs have branched out into many different areas of need in support of the most worthy individuals and organizations within their respective communities.

The men and women of the East Providence Lions continue to proudly serve and assist not only our home city but other communities in the East Bay region. There is no finer service organization in the world than Lions Clubs International.
